What is sassons?

Sassoons may refer to the Sassoon family, a prominent Jewish family of Iraqi origin that played a significant role in developing trade and commerce in India and the Far East in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The family was also involved in philanthropy, education, and politics.

David Sassoon, a member of the family, established a successful trading company in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1832, which became one of the largest and most powerful trading firms in India.
