What is schmegal?

Schmegal, also known as Gollum, is a fictional character in J.R.R. Tolkien's novel "The Lord of the Rings". He was originally a hobbit-like creature called Sméagol who stumbled upon the One Ring and became obsessed with it, leading to his physical transformation into the twisted and pitiful creature known as Gollum. Gollum became a threat to Frodo and his companions on their quest to destroy the ring, and his inner struggle between his loyalty to the Ring and his desire to be free from its hold played a significant role in the story.
