What is scientologie?

Scientology is a religious movement that was founded in the 1950s by American science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. The core belief of Scientology is that every human being is a spiritual being called a Thetan, and that through Scientology practices and technologies, individuals can rid themselves of negative influences and achieve spiritual enlightenment, or "freedom."

The practices and teachings of Scientology include auditing, a type of one-on-one counseling session in which the individual is asked a series of questions in order to identify and eliminate negative experiences or "engrams", as well as classes, training courses, and communities designed to promote the growth and development of Scientologists.

While many members of Scientology have reported positive experiences and benefits from their involvement in the movement, Scientology has also been the subject of intense criticism and controversy. Some former members have accused the organization of being a cult or scam, while others have raised concerns about abusive practices and allegations of human rights violations.

Scientology is recognized as a religion in some countries, but not in others. It has faced legal challenges in various countries, including France and Germany, and has been the subject of numerous controversies and high-profile scandals, including the death of member Lisa McPherson in 1995.
