What is scythe?

A scythe is a type of hand tool used for cutting grass, crops, and other vegetation. It consists of a long, curved blade attached to a wooden or metal handle. The user swings the blade back and forth in a sweeping motion to cut through the vegetation.

Historically, the scythe was widely used in agriculture before the invention of modern machinery. It was commonly used for harvesting crops, such as wheat and barley.

Scythes are also used in some traditional arts, such as haymaking and topiary. In recent years, scything has gained popularity as a form of exercise and a method for managing wild vegetation.

Additionally, the Grim Reaper (or Death personified) is often portrayed carrying a scythe as a symbol of death and the end of life.
