What is seige?

A siege is a military tactic in which an army surrounds and isolates a location, typically a fortress or a city, cutting off all supply lines, with the aim of forcing the surrender of the defending forces. During a siege, the attacking forces may also launch attacks, starve the defenders, or try to undermine their fortifications.

Sieges have been used throughout history and are still used today, although advancements in technology and tactics have changed the way sieges are conducted. Some famous sieges include the Siege of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire in 1453, the Siege of Leningrad during World War II, and the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War.

Sieges can be long and grueling affairs, lasting months or even years, and often result in immense suffering for both defenders and attackers. In some cases, sieges have ended in massacre or expulsion of the defenders, while in others they have resulted in negotiated surrender or peaceful settlement.
