What is sematics?

Semantics is a branch of linguistics that focuses on the meaning of linguistic expressions, including words, phrases, sentences and entire texts. It studies how meaning is constructed and interpreted, including the relationship between words and their referents, as well as the relationship between linguistic expressions and their contexts. Semantics also plays an important role in natural language processing, as it is essential for tasks such as machine translation, speech recognition, and text classification. Some important areas of study in semantics include truth-conditional semantics, formal semantics, lexical semantics, and cognitive semantics.
