What is subwofer?

A subwoofer is a type of speaker designed to reproduce low-pitched audio frequencies, typically between 20-200 Hz. It is used to enhance the bass and mid-range frequencies in music, movie and gaming soundtracks, and other audio applications. Subwoofers come in various sizes and are typically larger than traditional speakers due to the size of the speaker driver and the enclosure required to support it. They are commonly used in home theater systems, car audio systems, and concert and club sound systems. Subwoofers can be powered or passive (requiring an external amplifier), and can be integrated into a larger speaker system or used as a standalone component. The quality and performance of a subwoofer are determined by factors such as the size and type of the driver, the power handling capacity, and the construction and design of the enclosure.
