What is trojniak?

Trojniak is a type of mead that is traditional in Poland. It is made by fermenting honey, water, and sometimes fruit or spices, and then aging it for several months or years. The name "trojniak" comes from the Polish word for "three", and refers to the fact that three times as much honey is used in the recipe as in traditional mead. This produces a sweeter and stronger mead, with a more intense honey flavor. Trojniaks can range in alcohol content from 12% to 18% or higher, depending on the fermentation process. They are often enjoyed as a sipping drink, sometimes served in small glasses after dinner as a dessert wine.
