What is us54?

US 54 is a north-south United States highway that runs from El Paso, Texas, to Griggsville, Illinois. It is about 1,197 miles long and passes through the states of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. The highway largely follows a diagonal route through the central United States, passing through major cities such as Wichita and Topeka in Kansas, and Jefferson City in Missouri. Along the route, travelers can see diverse landscapes including the Chihuahuan Desert in Texas and the Ozark Plateau in Missouri. The highway was first designated in 1926 as part of the original U.S. Highway system.
