What is verracos?

Verracos are ancient sculptures, typically made of stone, that resemble a wild boar. They were created during the Iron Age in the Iberian Peninsula, which includes modern-day Spain and Portugal. Verracos are believed to have been created as symbols of strength and power, and were often placed in prominent locations such as hilltops and crossroads. Many verracos were decorated with intricate carvings, such as spirals and zig-zags, which were believed to have significance in ancient Iberian culture. Today, verracos are considered important artifacts of Iberian culture and are sometimes featured in museums and archaeological exhibits.
