What is vs-41?

VS-41 refers to a squadron of the United States Navy, officially known as the "Sea Control Squadron 41". It was a Sea Control (ASW) squadron that commissioned on July 1, 1970 and was based at the Naval Air Station North Island, California. The squadron operated the S-3 Viking aircraft which was primarily tasked with performing anti-submarine warfare (ASW), intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

During its operational history, VS-41 flew in various conflicts and operations, including the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The squadron was disestablished on September 30, 2005, as part of a larger restructuring of naval aviation forces. Many of VS-41's personnel and aircraft were transferred to other squadrons, including the Sea Control Squadron 38 and the Sea Control Squadron 73.
