Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo, commonly known as Zagallo, is a retired Brazilian football player and coach. Born on August 9, 1931, in Maceió, Brazil, Zagallo started his playing career with Flamengo in 1949. He played as a left-winger for several clubs in Brazil, including Botafogo and Corinthians. He also played for the Brazilian national team, winning the 1958 and 1962 World Cups.
After retiring from playing, Zagallo became a coach, leading the Brazilian national team to victory in the 1970 World Cup. He also coached several club teams, including Flamengo, Botafogo, and Vasco da Gama. Zagallo is the only person to have won the World Cup as both a player and a coach.
Zagallo is renowned for his tactical knowledge and his ability to motivate players. He is also known for his amiable personality and his love of the game.
