What is zibello?

Zibello is a comune (municipality) in the province of Parma, in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It is known for its production of Culatello di Zibello, a type of cured meat made from the hind legs of pigs and aged in cellars for over a year. Culatello di Zibello is considered one of the finest and most expensive Italian cured meats, and Zibello is part of the Culatello di Zibello DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) area. The town has a population of approximately 3,000 people.
