Zizinho, whose full name was Thomaz Soares da Silva, was a Brazilian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He was born on October 14, 1921, in Niteroi, Brazil and passed away on May 8, 2002, in Rio de Janeiro.
Zizinho is considered one of the greatest Brazilian footballers of all time, known for his exceptional vision, passing ability, and playmaking skills. He began his professional career with Flamengo in 1939 and later played for famous Brazilian clubs like Bangu, Sao Paulo, and Audax Italiano.
Zizinho also represented the Brazilian national team and participated in the 1950 FIFA World Cup, where he scored two goals and helped lead Brazil to the final. Despite losing to Uruguay in the final, Zizinho's performance was highly praised, and he is still regarded as one of the best players of that tournament.
Throughout his career, Zizinho scored over 400 goals and won numerous titles, including multiple Campeonato Carioca championships. He was inducted into the Brazilian Football Museum Hall of Fame in 2006, recognizing his contributions to Brazilian football.
