What is adjunct?

An adjunct is a type of word that adds an extra meaning to a sentence, but is not essential to the sentence's grammatical structure. They provide additional information about the sentence's subject, verb, or object. Adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases are all examples of adjuncts.

For example, in the sentence "She ate breakfast quickly before work," "quickly" is an adverb adjunct, providing extra information about how she ate breakfast.

Adjuncts are often used to add detail or emphasis to a sentence. They can also help create more complex and interesting sentences. However, using too many adjuncts can make a sentence confusing or difficult to understand. It's important to use them sparingly and appropriately.
