What is bhadrakaali?

Bhadrakali is a Hindu goddess worshipped primarily in South India, especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. She is considered as a form of the supreme mother goddess, Shakti, and is also known as Kali, Mahakali, or Maha Shakthi. The name Bhadrakali means "blessed Kali".

Bhadrakali is depicted as a fierce and powerful goddess who is always ready to vanquish evil and protect her devotees. She is often depicted with multiple arms and carrying weapons such as swords, tridents, and bows. Her skin is dark, symbolizing her association with primal energy and destruction.

Bhadrakali is associated with many legends and tales, including the story of how her devotees invoke her to destroy the demon Daruka. She is also worshipped as a guardian deity of villages, protecting them from diseases, natural calamities, and other dangers.

Bhadrakali is usually worshipped in temples dedicated to her, where devotees offer flowers, incense, and prayers. The most popular festival associated with her is the Kumbha Bharani festival, celebrated in Kerala during the month of March. During this festival, devotees perform various rituals, dances, and processions in honor of the goddess.
