Subramania Bharati (also known as Bharathiyar) was an Indian poet and freedom fighter who lived from 1882-1921. He was born in Tamil Nadu and wrote extensively in Tamil, as well as in English. He was known for his patriotic and nationalistic poetry, as well as his social reform ideas, advocating for gender equality and the eradication of caste-based discrimination. Bharati also played a key role in the Indian independence movement, using his writing as a means to inspire and mobilize people towards freedom. His poetry continues to be celebrated and revered in Tamil Nadu and across India.
