What is bholenath?

Bholenath, also known as Lord Shiva, is one of the principal deities in Hinduism. He is considered the Supreme Being and the destroyer of evil and ignorance. Bholenath is often depicted as a yogi meditating in the mountains, with a third eye on his forehead and a crescent moon on his head. He is also known by various other names such as Mahadev, Neelkanth, and Shankar.

Devotees of Bholenath believe that he is the embodiment of compassion, wisdom, and meditation. He is also seen as a protector of the universe and a source of strength and guidance. Many Hindus worship Bholenath in the form of lingam, a symbol of his cosmic power and energy.

Bholenath is often associated with various symbols and animals, such as the bull Nandi, which is his mount, and the snake, which he wears around his neck. He is also associated with the river Ganga and the Himalayas, where he is believed to reside.

Bholenath is worshipped by millions of Hindus around the world, especially during the festival of Maha Shivaratri, which is dedicated to him. His devotees often chant his name and offer prayers and offerings to seek his blessings and protection.
