What is cerval?

Cervals, also known as Central American or Mexican Tigers, are small wild cats native to Central and South America. They are part of the same genus as ocelots and can interbreed with them to produce hybrid offspring known as ocervals.

Cervals are nocturnal and solitary animals, hunting mostly at night for small mammals, birds, and reptiles. They are known for their agility and excellent climbing and swimming abilities. Their fur is usually a yellowish-brown color with black spots and stripes, providing excellent camouflage in their forest habitat.

Cervals are classified as a near-threatened species due to habitat loss, hunting for their fur, and illegal pet trade. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations and ensure their survival in the wild.
