What is chocolateras?

Chocolateras are traditional Mexican kitchenware used to whisk and froth hot chocolate. They consist of a clay or metal pitcher with a long handle and spout, and a wooden whisk called a molinillo. The molinillo is inserted into the spout and rotated vigorously between the palms to froth up the liquid. Chocolateras are often used to make traditional Mexican hot chocolate, which is made with melted chocolate, milk, cinnamon, and other spices. The frothy texture is achieved by whisking the mixture with the molinillo. Today, chocolateras are also used for making other frothy drinks, such as matcha lattes and cappuccinos.
