What is fadh2?

FADH2, or flavin adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme involved in redox reactions in cells. It is derived from vitamin B2 and plays a critical role in the electron transport chain, a series of reactions that generate the majority of the ATP (energy) produced in aerobic respiration.

FADH2 acts as a carrier of electrons, transferring them to the electron transport chain where they are used to generate ATP. It can be reduced to FADH2 by accepting two electrons and two protons during the process.

Overall, FADH2 helps to facilitate the production of energy in the form of ATP and is essential for the functioning of cellular respiration.
