Louis Fourestier, commonly known as Maurice Fourestier Ferroud, was a French composer born in Montpellier on 4 July 1900. He studied with Paul Dukas during the 1920s, and his music reveals the influence of both French Neo-Classicism and forward-looking tendencies. His most significant works include the three pieces for orchestra, 'Jungle Book', 'Mirages,' and 'Ouverture pour un conte,' as well as his Quintet for piano and winds. Ferroud was killed in an automobile accident on August 24, 1930, at the age of thirty. Despite his brief career, his works demonstrate his impressive musical prowess and his unique musical language, which combines classical and modern elements.
