What is haglund?

Haglund's deformity is a condition in which a bony enlargement develops on the back of the heel bone. It is often referred to as a "pump bump" because it is commonly associated with wearing dress shoes with rigid backs. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, and redness in the affected area. Treatment options may include wearing shoes with softer backs, using heel pads or cushions, physical therapy and in severe cases, surgery. Haglund's deformity is more common in women than in men and typically affects people in their 20s and 30s. It is named after Swedish orthopedist Patrick Haglund who first described the condition in the early 20th century.
