Kwyjibo is a fictional word and game originating from the animated television series The Simpsons.
It first appeared in the episode "Bart the Genius" (Season 1, Episode 2). In the episode, Bart cheats on an aptitude test by substituting his name for a randomly made up word and writes "Kwyjibo", resulting in a high score that leads him to be mistakenly identified as a genius and transferred to a school for gifted children.
Bart defines "kwyjibo" as "a big, dumb, balding North American ape... with no chin." He's essentially describing Homer Simpson, his father.
The joke lies in the fact that Bart randomly made up the word and the subsequent incorrect assessment based on this fabrication. It highlights the flaws in standardized testing and the potential for misinterpretation of results. The word "kwyjibo" has since become a minor pop culture reference and a synonym for a made-up word with a specific, often humorous, definition.
