What is mesopithecus.?

Mesopithecus is a genus of extinct primates that lived during the middle to late Miocene epoch, approximately 15-5 million years ago. They were small to medium in size, weighing between 5 to 25 kg, and had a body resembling a monkey. The skulls of Mesopithecus were marked by a large, robust build with high, sagittal crests and thick, heavy jaws. Their lives were spent in trees, as they were highly adapted to arboreal life, using their prehensile tail and grasping hands and feet to climb and move through the branches with ease. They were herbivores, primarily eating fruits, leaves, and other plant matter, and are believed to have been social animals, traveling and living in groups. Mesopithecus fossils have been found in various locations in Europe and Asia, including Greece, Hungary, Turkey, Georgia, and China.
