What is mintzberg?

Henry Mintzberg is a Canadian academician, author and management expert, who is widely recognized for his contributions to the field of management and organizational theory. He is a professor of management at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Mintzberg is best known for his work on managerial roles, which he published in a book called “The Nature of Managerial Work”. In this book, he argued that managers perform ten different roles – in three categories: interpersonal, informational, and decisional – that sum up their work. This theory has become an enduring classic in the field of management.

In addition to his work on managerial roles, Mintzberg has also written extensively on other topics such as organizational structure, corporate strategy, and leadership. He has published more than 15 books on these and other topics, many of which have been translated into multiple languages.

Mintzberg is also the founder of the International Masters Program in Practicing Management, which brings together senior managers from around the world to learn from each other and from faculty members.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of management, Mintzberg has received numerous awards and honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Management in 2015.
