What is quot?

A quotation or quote is a short excerpt from a speech, book, or other written or spoken source that is repeated or cited by someone else. Quotations are often used to provide evidence, to support or highlight an argument, or to add interest or variation to a piece of writing or speech. In legal contexts, quotations may be used as evidence in a court of law. In some fields, such as journalism and aesthetic criticism, quotations are often used as a way of summarizing or reviewing the work of others. Quotations are usually enclosed in quotation marks and include the author's name and the source of the quotation.
