What is tessenjutsu?

Tessenjutsu is a traditional martial art in Japan that focuses on the use of the tessen, or iron fan, as a defensive weapon. The tessen is a folding fan made of iron that can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes.

Tessenjutsu techniques involve striking, blocking, and disarming an opponent using the tessen. Practitioners of tessenjutsu are trained in various techniques such as using the fan to parry or deflect attacks, as well as striking pressure points on the body to incapacitate an opponent.

Tessenjutsu was often practiced by samurai and ninja as a means of self-defense in situations where traditional weapons such as swords were not permitted. It is considered a highly effective martial art that requires precision, skill, and speed.

Today, tessenjutsu is practiced as a traditional Japanese martial art and is still taught in some martial arts schools. It is also sometimes incorporated into modern martial arts training as a form of self-defense.
