What is underserved?

Underserved refers to individuals or communities who lack access to essential resources and services, often due to economic, social, or geographic barriers. This can include access to healthcare, education, affordable housing, healthy food options, transportation, and other basic necessities. Underserved populations may include low-income individuals, people living in rural areas, people of color, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities. Lack of access to these resources can lead to a variety of negative outcomes, including poor health, limited educational and job opportunities, and social isolation. Addressing the needs of underserved populations is crucial for creating more equitable communities and promoting social justice.
