What is vf-213?

VF-213 (Fighter Squadron 213) was a United States Navy fighter squadron established on June 22, 1955. The squadron's nickname was "Black Lions" and its motto was "Ubique" (Everywhere). The squadron was based at Naval Air Station Oceana and flew F-14 Tomcat fighter aircraft.

VF-213 participated in numerous conflicts and operations, including the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. The squadron was disestablished on April 1, 2005, and its aircraft and personnel were absorbed by the newly formed Strike Fighter Squadron 213 (VFA-213).

During its existence, VF-213 was awarded numerous accolades and honors, including the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, and the Battle "E" Award. The squadron's legacy and history continue to be celebrated by former members and aviation enthusiasts.
