What is auyantepuy?

Auyantepuy is a tepui, or tabletop mountain, located in the Canaima National Park in Venezuela. It is one of the largest and most famous tepuis, rising over 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above the surrounding savannahs and forests. Auyantepuy is home to numerous waterfalls, including the world-famous Angel Falls, which drops 979 meters (3,212 feet) from the top of the mountain. The mountain is also known for its unique ecosystem, with many endemic plant and animal species found only on the tepui. Auyantepuy has cultural significance for the indigenous Pemon people, who consider it a sacred site and have lived in the surrounding area for thousands of years. The mountain is a popular destination for adventure tourism, with many visitors hiking or taking helicopter tours to see the waterfalls and unique ecosystem.
