What is jocotes?

Jocotes, also known as Spanish plums or red mombins, are a type of fruit native to Central America and Mexico. They are small, round or oval-shaped, and have a bright yellow or orange-red skin. The fruit has a fleshy pulp that is juicy, tangy, and slightly sour, with a chewy textured seed in the center. Jocotes are often eaten fresh, but can also be used to make juices, jams, and candies. They are typically in season from May to August. Jocotes are a good source of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, and have been used in traditional medicine for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
