What is kortryk?

Kortrijk, also known as Courtrai in French, is a city in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is situated on the banks of the Leie River, approximately 25 kilometers south-west of Ghent and 25 kilometers north-east of Lille in France.

The city has a rich history dating back to Roman times, but it is best known as the site of the Battle of Courtrai in 1302, which marked a major victory for the Flemish against the French. Today, the city is known for its textiles, which have been produced here for centuries.
