What is lec?

LEC, which stands for League of Legends European Championship, is the top professional League of Legends esports league in Europe. It was created in 2019 as a rebranding of the former European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS). LEC is organized and operated by Riot Games, the developer of the League of Legends game.

The league features 10 teams from various European countries competing against each other in a double round-robin format in the Spring and Summer Splits. LEC teams include well-known organizations such as G2 Esports, Fnatic, Team Vitality, and Misfits Gaming, among others.

The top six teams from the regular season qualify for the end-of-split playoffs, where they compete for a chance to represent Europe in international events such as the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the World Championship.

LEC is known for its high level of competition, talented players, and passionate fanbase. The league attracts a large viewership through online streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, with casters and analysts providing commentary and analysis during the matches.

Aside from the competitive aspect, the LEC also engages in various community initiatives, promoting inclusivity, diversity, and mental health awareness within the esports industry.

Overall, the LEC serves as a major platform for European League of Legends players and teams to showcase their skills, entertain fans, and compete at the highest level of professional play.
